High stakes anti-narcotics operation in Qila Abdullah

QILA ABDULLAH: Pakistan Army, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and regional organizations, conducted an extensive crackdown on narcotics smugglers in Qila Abdullah District of Balochistan.

The joint operation, which has made history, was spearheaded by FC Balochistan (North), in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force, Levies, and various other law enforcement agencies.

This operation marks the most significant anti-narcotics effort since 2016. To ensure the successful execution of this historic operation, an initial tribal council, known as a “Jirga,” was convened, and those involved were duly cautioned.

Following the Jirga, a large-scale joint operation against drug traffickers unfolded between September 8 and 10. The operation has yielded substantial results, including the dismantling of drug production facilities, the destruction of drug storage sites, and the disabling of vital drug-processing machinery.

A total of 42 targets have been identified and pursued thus far. The operation has led to the discovery and confiscation of clandestine drug warehouses and the eradication of extensive drug crops spanning multiple acres.

During the operation, an impressive six tons of ephedrine were obliterated, alongside the destruction of 48 drug-related structures. Furthermore, 70 acres of illicit drug crops were eradicated, and 28 drug-processing machines were rendered inoperative.

A total of 11 individuals were apprehended in the course of this extensive crackdown. It has come to light that approximately 500 to 600 illegal Afghan nationals were enlisted to guard this drug base.

The operation resulted in the seizure of drugs worth millions of rupees and the confiscation of banned chemical substances used in their production. The haul included 1100 kg of hashish, 94 kg of ephedrine, 16.2 kg of ice, and 1090 liters of hydrochloric acid (HCl), with an estimated total value of Rs 72,187,950.

This operation garnered overwhelming support from the local populace, particularly in Qila Abdullah and Gulistan. Residents expressed their gratitude to the security agencies for taking action against drug dealers.

Tribal leader Nasir Khan Kakar remarked, “It was a long-standing desire of the people of Qila Abdullah and Golestan that action should be taken against the drug dealers.” The operation will persist until the scourge of drugs is completely eradicated.

FC Balochistan (North), in conjunction with the Anti-Narcotics Force and other law enforcement agencies, is committed to pursuing continuous measures to rid Balochistan of the menace of drugs.
