Imran Khan, others booked on sedition, terrorism charges

LAHRORE: Lahore police have booked Pakistan Thehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister, other leaders and workers on charges of sedition and terrorism.

A case has been registered against the PTI founder, other leaders, and 200 workers under the charges of sedition, terrorism and attempted murder at the Islampura Police Station.

PTI leaders including Hammad Azhar, Salman Akram Raja, Ghulam Mohiuddin, MPA Shehbaz, Mussarat Jamshed Cheema, Sheikh Imtiaz, Ali Imtiaz, Shabbir Gujjar and others have been named in the FIR.

According to the FIR, “PTI founder Imran Khan, despite enjoying extraordinary facilities in jail, allegedly incited his workers and leaders to commit acts of violence against the state. As a result, these leaders, along with workers, raised anti-state slogans and caused damage to property. During the unrest, a police constable, Bilal, was injured, and 16 protesters were detained on the spot. Further legal action is under way against them.”

In addition, several other cases have also been registered against PTI workers at Millat Park and Hanjarwal police stations for violating Section 144.

In Hanjarwal, on a complaint of ASI Aqeel, a case was registered against 20 workers, who had been arrested for participating in the protest the previous day.

Similarly, a case was filed at Millat Park Police Station on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Hafiz Imran, against 10 workers for violating Section 144.

Meanwhile, the Taxila police also registered a case against 300 individuals, including PTI leaders, on charges of terrorism and other serious offences.

Prominent figures including Raja Basharat, Taimur Masood, Ajmal Saber Raja, Ziyad Khaliq Kayani, Shehryar Riaz, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Ejaz Khan Jazzi, Nasir Mahfouz, Advocate Aqeel, Chaudhry Ameer Afzal, Raja Shahbaz, and Usman Tiger have been booked on various charges. Taxila police also arrested 105 protesters.
