ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, is set to arrive in Islamabad on October 2 for a three day visit.
Ibrahim will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other Pakistani leaders. The focus of the meetings will be bilateral trade and investment.
Palestine is likely to be brought up as well, with both countries united in their belief of the two-state solution to the ongoing conflict. Sources have stated that several agreements will be signed between the two during the visit.
In April of this year, PM Shehbaz invited Ibrahim to visit Pakistan after meeting him in Riyadh on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum. Shehbaz also invited Malaysian businessmen to visit the country, to deepen investment relations.
The last visit by a Malaysian Prime Minister occurred in 2019, when Mahathir Mohamad visited the country to meet Imran Khan. At the time, the two discussed a variety of bilateral, regional, and international issues of mutual interests.
