NSC says no compromise on national security

ISLAMABAD: The meeting of the National Security Committee, chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, received a briefing on the Pakistan-Iran tension, lasting for two and a half hours.

The meeting was attended by Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamsad Mirza, Army Chief General Syed Asim, Pakistan Air Force and Naval chiefs, caretaker foreign and finance ministers and senior officials from intelligence agencies.

According to sources, the participants emphasized that Pakistan is a peace-loving country that does not seek tension with its neighbouring countries, and there will be no compromise on national security.

During the briefing, it was highlighted that Pakistan conducted a successful intelligence-based operation on Iranian soil against terrorists.

The foreign minister updated the National Security Committee on the diplomatic dialogue with the Iranian foreign minister, where both countries discussed resolving their disputes through diplomatic means, with a commitment to maintaining ongoing communication.

The National Security Committee commended the armed forces for their effective response to Iranian aggression.

The committee reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and autonomy at all costs. The prime minister expressed that Pakistan is a peaceful country, desiring harmonious relations with all its neighbors.

The caretaker foreign minister provided updates on the Pakistan-Iran border situation to diplomatic and senior military officials during the National Security Committee meeting, with additional briefings from Pakistan’s ambassador in Iran.
