Pakistan welcomes ceasefire, demands independent Palestine: FO

Palestine

GAZA: “Pakistan welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Gaza on January 15,” said a statement by the Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch on Thursday.

Pakistan also calls for immediate implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the Spokesperson said, adding, “Hopefully, the temporary ceasefire will be a prelude to a permanent ceasefire.”

Pakistan’s FO said that the temporary ceasefire agreement will increase the provision of humanitarian aid as well.

The statement restated that the Israeli occupation forces used indiscriminate force against the Palestinians. “The Israeli army displaced thousands of Palestinians in Gaza. Israel’s expansionist ambitions have destabilised the region,” Foreign Office said.

Baloch said that Pakistan reiterates its support for a just, comprehensive and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue. “Pakistan wants the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within its borders,” the FO statement said.
