Political parties hail appointment of Kakar as caretaker PM


ISLAMAD: Almost all the mainstream political parties and leaders, including those belonging to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have welcomed the designation of Anwaarul Haq Kakar as the country’s eighth caretaker prime minister.

Reacting to the development, former information minister Fawad Chaudhry said Kakar was an “honest, educated and modest” Pakistani.

“After a long time, some good news has come for Pakistan. May God be your supporter and bless this decision for Pakistan,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former energy minister, Khurram Dastgir termed Kakar a “pragmatic & sober parliamentarian.”

Congratulating Kakar on his designation, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faisal Karim Kundi expressed hope for free and fair elections under his leadership.

Recalling his working relationship with Kakar as Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president and in Senate, Barrister Ali Zafar expressed his best wishes for the caretaker prime minister designate.

Although previous caretaker prime ministers have remained the target of criticism by political parties for various reasons, this is a rare occurence that the appointment is being hailed across the political spectrum.
