Security sources deny rumours of Gandapur’s arrest

ISLAMABAD: Security sources have dismissed rumours regarding the arrest and detention of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, labelling the reports as “fabricated” and “baseless”.
According to sources, Gandapur has neither been arrested nor detained.

The Interior Ministry stated that reports of any shooting by security forces were also completely false. “No shooting of any kind has occurred anywhere from Peshawar to Islamabad”, the ministry stated.
The Interior Ministry also urged the public to ‘avoid’ ‘speculation’ and rumours until confirmed information was available.
Claims of a siege of the KP House by rangers was also refuted, with such reports described as “baseless” and “fabricated”.
As per reports, security forces are currently deployed in and around Islamabad under article 245 of the constitution, with the Pakistan army and other law enforcement agencies performing their ‘duties’.
Conflicting reports emerged earlier regarding the KP CM Gandapur’s status, with opposition leader Omar Ayub and KP Information Adviser Barrister Saif claiming that he had been taken into custody.

However, official sources claim that the news of his arrest are false, and describing it as a “propaganda effort” by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.
