Session judge from Waziristan abducted from DI Khan-Tank road

DI KHAN: District and Session Judge Shakirullah Marwat was forcibly taken on Saturday, by armed individuals from the vicinity of Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Police authorities reported.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Adnan of DI Khan informed media sources that the judge from South Waziristan was taken from Bhagwal village area.

DSP Adnan informed that the judge was taken while he was on his way home to DI Khan. His driver was not harmed during the abduction and his vehicle was also recovered from the spot, police sources added.

No one has claimed responsibility for the judge’s abduction so far, the police said, adding that a substantial number of personnel has been deployed at the scene and a comprehensive search operation, including multiple raids, is being carried out to ensure safe recovery of the judge.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incident and issued directives to the inspector general of police (IGP) for safe recovery of the judge.

In a statement issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, the CM said “All available resources should be utilised for this purpose”.

The statement added, “The elements involved in the incident cannot escape from the grip of the law. The provincial government will take all possible steps to recover the judge”.
