Six terrorists killed, three injured near Pak-Afghan border: ISPR

Six terrorist killed

ISLAMABAD: At least six terrorists were killed and three others injured during an encounter with security forces in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan, near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incident happened Friday night when around 25 infiltrators attempted to cross into Pakistan’s Mir Ali area.

The ISPR said that security forces engaged the militants and an intense gunfire ensued, which resulted in the death of six militants and injuries to three, while the rest retreated back into Afghanistan.

Earlier, on November 4, ISPR had said that five terrorists were killed in the Khumrang area of South Waziristan after security forces intercepted the infiltrators on the night of November 3–4.

The ISPR’s statement had also urged the Afghan interim government to take more robust action on its side of the border to prevent terrorists from using Afghan soil for cross-border attacks against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, local authorities successfully negotiated with families affected by an alleged mortar incident in Shakai, Upper South Waziristan, that resulted in the deaths of several children.

Following the incident, families and members of the Mehsud tribe had staged a protest, which ended after successful talks with Deputy Commissioner Saleem Jan.
