HYDERABAD: Latif Akash, adopted son of Sindhi poet Dr. Akash Ansari, has confessed to killing his father before setting the house on fire.

Dr. Akash, 69, tragically lost his life in a fire that erupted at his residence in Citizen Colony, Hyderabad, on Saturday.

On Monday, the investigating officer disclosed that Latif murdered Dr. Akash and then ignited his room to cover up the crime.

Authorities have collected key evidence and are now awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports to finalize the case.

The officer further revealed that Latif had undergone DNA testing, while police are still waiting for detailed forensic results. He added that the suspect was a drug addict and frequently demanded money from his foster father.

Doctors, while conducting the post-mortem, also ruled out the possibility of an accidental death.

Following suspicions that the incident was not an accident, police took Latif and the poet’s driver into custody for questioning.
