Teleco awarded PKR 6.78 billion for 4G internet in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: The Universal Service Fund (USF) has awarded a contract worth PKR 6.78 billion to telecom provider Ufone for providing high-speed mobile broadband services in Balochistan’s Sibbi district and along the M-8 motorway.

The contract signing ceremony was witnessed by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Syed Amin Ul Haque, and Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Agha Hassan Baloch.

The first project, worth PKR 1.96 billion, will benefit around 34,000 individuals in Sibbi district while the second one, worth PKR 4.82 billion, will ensure voice and 4G coverage on previously unserved segments along the M-8 motorway.

During the last five years, USF has launched 21 new projects worth PKR 27.12 billion under its high-speed broadband program across the province. 

Universal Service Fund was established by the Ministry of Information Technology to promote the development of telecommunication services in un-served and under-served areas of Pakistan.
