Historically, many terrorist factions favoured encrypted messaging apps such as Telegram for their operational discussions. However, the DPO indicated that militants in Swat have opted for PUBG. They are taking advantage of its absence of chat monitoring capabilities, which facilitates covert communication.

The police officer said that a small group of three or four terrorists utilised the game to strategise and coordinate their actions.

In a recent successful operation by Swat police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), law enforcement apprehended three suspects connected to a bombing.

The DPO also revealed that the confiscated mobile phones contained the PUBG game, which provided significant evidence through its chat features. The findings shed light on the adaptive strategies employed by terrorist organisations in the region and raises concerns about the potential misuse of gaming platforms.
