Third round of talks: PTI presents charter of demands

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) has presented its charter of demands before the negotiating committee at the start of the third round of talks between the government and the PTI on Thursday.
Omar Ayub, leader of the opposition and the head of the PTI negotiating Committee, presented the charter of demands (CoD) before the speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq.NA Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, former NA speaker Asad Qaiser, party’s Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Chairman Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, and Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza are representing the PTI.
Whereas, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, PM’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Naveed Qamar and Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar are representing the ruling coalition.
The charter of demands consists of two points spread across three pages.

The key demands in the CoD include the release of PTI’s founder and a judicial inquiry into the May 9 incidents.
PTI has also called for a judicial commission to investigate the events of November 24-27, 2024.
The party demanded two judicial commissions headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, with three Supreme Court judges as members.
PTI has also proposed that the government and PTI committees finalise the judges’ nominations within seven days.
Both commissions should hold open proceedings accessible to the public and media, PTI stated in its charter of demands.
One commission should specifically investigate incidents linked to the PTI founder’s arrest on May 9, the demands stated.
