LAHORE: The Central Business District (CBD) has instructed the contractor to complete the three-lane Walton Road project in Lahore by next month, ahead of the original deadline.
Construction has significantly disrupted traffic, causing problems for those heading to the Packages Mall or 7th Street, as well as for residents of Al Noor Town. However, the announcement of a new completion date brings hope that these issues will soon be resolved for both local residents and regular commuters.
The CBD had set a deadline of October 20 for finishing the Walton Road project, including the drainage system. So far, 80 per cent of the work has been completed.
The upgrade, which is crucial for connecting Walton Road with the city’s main highway, has been fast-tracked. The asphalt work is expected to be completed, and the road is scheduled to reopen by September 30.
According to sources, six bridges have been built for vehicles and bikes, and a three-lane carriageway is being constructed to improve traffic flow. Additionally, a 40-foot-wide service road has been added on both sides to prevent traffic jams.
