Weather update: Rawalpindi braces for rain, thunderstorms

ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi is set to experience a rainy weather, accompanied by strong winds and even thunderstorms in some areas, on Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), residents in the city should prepare for potentially heavy rainfall during early morning hours.
The humidity level is expected to reach 67 per cent, with temperatures peaking at around 34°C.

The Met Office predicted that Rawalpindi and its surrounding areas will see periods of rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. The intensity of the rain may lead to localised flooding. Residents are advised to stay updated with real-time weather alerts.
The current weather in Rawalpindi is being driven by moisture from the Arabian Sea and a western weather pattern affecting northern areas.
Weather update in other regions
Meanwhile, other areas in the Potohar region are likely to experience similar weather, with rain and thunderstorms potentially affecting nearby districts, disrupting daily routines and travel plans. Residents are advised to plan their outdoor activities accordingly.
In the broader region, including upper and southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeastern Balochistan, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected.
Heavy rainfall might impact select areas in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, and the Potohar region.
In other parts of the country, many districts will face hot and humid weather. However, Zhob, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Shirani, Loralai, Sibbi, Ziarat, Lasbella, Kalat, Khuzdar, and Nasserabad are expected to experience heavy rainfall.
In Punjab, areas such as Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Kasur, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Multan, Taunsa, Dera Ghazi Khan, Kot Adu, Muzafargarh, and Bahawalpur are expected to experience varying levels of rainfall, from light to heavy.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, heavy showers are expected across the province. This includes Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Batagram, Mansehra, Balakot, Abbottabad, Haripur and Buner.
Nowshera, Swabi, Charsadda, Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur, Malakand, Mardan, Peshawar, Karak, Kohat, Kurram, Bannu, Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, and Tank are also expected to be hit by heavy showers.
Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Khushab will also see significant rainfall.

Meanwhile in Gilgit-Baltistan, , the Met Office predicted heavy rainfall across the entire region.
Similarly, in Azad Kashmir, residents can expect rain and thunderstorms throughout the area.
