26 former lawmakers disqualified from elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared 26 former members of the national and provincial assemblies ineligible to contest the elections for not submitting their returns.
According to the notification‚ the disqualified members include 11 former members of the National Assembly, seven members of the Sindh Assembly, and eight members of the Balochistan Assembly.

The ECP said these members would not be able to participate in any election until the declaration of 2023-22 is submitted.
The suspended lawmakers included Khurram Dastgir, Mohsin Ranjha, Muhammad Ali, Kamaluddin, Arsalan Taj, Syed Imran Ali Shah, Yar Muhammad Rand, and other former members.
“After submitting the declarations of 2023-22, former members will be able to contest elections,” the ECP said.
