ECP suspends reserved seats parliamentary members across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended the parliamentary membership of representatives on 21 reserved seats in the National Assembly.

This move, aimed at ensuring fair representation, affects three members elected on minority seats and 19 on women’s seats, according to an announcement by the ECP.

In provincial assemblies, in the Punjab Assembly, 24 women’s seats and three minority seats’ candidates have been suspended.

In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, candidates on 21 reserved seats for women and four for minorities have been suspended.

In the Sindh Assembly, the membership of representatives on two women’s seats and one minority seat has been suspended.

Overall, the ECP has suspended membership on a total of 77 reserved seats across various assemblies, with 66 seats reserved for women and 11 for minorities.
