PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur criticised the federal government’s handling of the province’s mandate, labelling it the “mandate-thief government”.

His remarks came amid escalating tensions over power outages and the management of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). Long hours of power outage has been reported in the province despite decreased demand over Eid holidays.

“I messaged and called Owais Leghari but he didn’t answer,” Gandapur said while highlighting the communication breakdown with the federal authorities. He said that the “provincial authorities will now will work on a policy that I am providing.”

Gandapur urged against any harm to WAPDA, adding “No load shedding will be allowed on any feeder for more than 12 hours.” He directed all Members of Provincial Assembly (MPAs) to personally ensure power feeders are operational. “All MPAs have to go and switch on the feeder themselves,” he said.

Further intensifying his stance, Gandapur revealed, “I have also told the IG, police will not file an FIR against any Khyber Pakhtunkhwa employee on the request of WAPDA.”
