ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan emphasised the need to take responsibility for decisions made during the past 15 months.

Speaking on the Pakistan Tonight with Sammar Abbas programme on Hum News, Khan highlighted that 15 parties were part of the coalition government of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), all of which expressed full confidence in the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif.

He noted that the responsibility for the decisions taken during this period should be shared collectively by these parties.

When questioned about interim Prime Minister Kakar’s statement regarding following a Supreme Court order to hold elections within 90 days, Khan reiterated that the PML-N is prepared for elections.

He pointed out the constitutional aspect, where one part stipulates elections within 90 days, while another emphasises the importance of conducting a census before elections.

Regarding discussions on the timing of elections and refraining from dwelling on past issues, Khan expressed disappointment with the Supreme Court’s decision, stating that it impacts the autonomy of parliament.

In response to a query about PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal’s criticism of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) regarding the sugar issue, Khurram Dastgir Khan highlighted that all parties were part of the coalition system. He drew a parallel with the PPP’s responsibility for delimiting constituencies, indicating that they should also accept responsibility for the sugar issue.
