Misuse of firetrucks for politics hampered brigade performance in Hayatabad fire: Kundi

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi demands formation of a committee to investigate the fire in Hayatabad factory. He alleges that the fire brigade trucks used to put out the fire were not at optimum performance because they were being used for political purposes.

“Two vehicles came to extinguish the fire, one was low on oil and the other was low on water”, the governor said, adding that “Rescue vehicles were used for political purposes which is sad. When they were needed for rescue efforts, see what happened”.
People do not pay tax for meetings and processions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governor said, adding that the taxes are meant for the government to provide facilities.
Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force also participated in firefighting activities. “If all the work is assigned to the army, what will the government do?” Kundi asked, adding that the Pakistan Army fighting terrorists and also putting out fires in factories.
“If this incident had happened in Sindh or Punjab, press conferences would have been held,” he said alluding at the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) press conferences criticising the government’s performance.

“Do not play politics on the fire incident,” Kundi said, adding that the provincial government should not use [public] departments against the federal government.
