MULTAN: In the NA-148 Multan by-election taking place today, eight contenders are vying for the post.
However, primary clash is expected between Ali Qasim Gillani of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Taimur Altaf Malik, representing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed (PTI) Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Polling commenced at 8:00 AM, with 444,231 registered voters in the constituency, comprising 233,664 men and 210,607 women.
The electoral area is equipped with 275 polling stations: 131 of these are mixed-gender, while 72 each are designated exclusively for men and women.
To ensure security, 3,800 police officers have been stationed throughout Multan, complemented by the installation of CCTV cameras and walk-through gates. Among the polling stations, 69 have been classified as “sensitive.”
