Thirteen climbers successfully summit Gasherbrum II in Gilgit-Baltistan

GILGIT: A team of 13 mountaineers, including two Pakistanis, successfully summited Gasherbrum II (8,035 metres) also known as K4 in Gilgit-Baltistan on Sunday.
The announcement was made by Nepalese mountaineering company Seven Summit Treks (SST) Manager Chhang Dawa Sherpa.

“We are proud to announce the successful ascent of Gasherbrum II (8034m) by our incredible Seven Summit Treks team members and Sherpas on July 21, 2024,” Chhang Dawa Sherpa shared in a social media post.
He said the team achieved this milestone while fixing ropes and opening the trail.
Sherpa extended heartfelt congratulations to the team, praising their extraordinary perseverance, strength, and teamwork. “A massive congratulation to each member of this dedicated team for their extraordinary perseverance, strength, and teamwork,” he said.
The climbers who reached the summit include Alina Pekova from Russia, Dorota Lidia Rasinska-Samocko from Poland, Josette Valloton from Switzerland, Marco Camandona from Italy, Pasang Tenje Sherpa from Nepal, Dawa Nurbu Sherpa from Nepal, Chhang Dawa Sherpa from Nepal, Phurbu Kusang Sherpa from Nepal, Pasang Dukpa Sherpa from Nepal, Sanu Sherpa from Nepal, Uta Ibrahimi from Albania, and Shahida Jamil Afridi and Rana Hassan Javaid from Pakistan.
In conversation with HUM News English, adventure tourism company Summit Karakoram’s Managing Director Sakhawat Hussain also confirmed that a total of 13 climbers summitted the peak at different times on Sunday.

Gasherbrum II, the 13th highest mountain in the world, is known for its challenging conditions. Located in the Karakoram range, Gasherbrum II is one of the five 8,000-meter peaks in Pakistan.
The mountain is part of the Gasherbrum massif and is renowned for its steep, icy slopes and severe weather conditions, making any ascent a significant achievement in the mountaineering community.
