Daryl Mitchell discusses performance, team spirit in press conference

LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars’ Daryl Mitchell addressed the media early on Sunday, following his team’s five-wicket victory over Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The Kiwi shared his insights on the game and his team’s performance during the 16th match of the Pakistan Super League season 10 (PSL 10).

The player had played an important role in the Qalandars’ chase with a matching-winning knock of 64 runs. During the press conference, Mitchell stated how he enjoyed playing under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi. “It’s a lot of fun playing under Shaheen Afridi’s captaincy”, Mitchell stated.
“It was a lot of fun playing today’s innings. We wanted to win the match today, and I am glad we managed to do that”.
Reflecting on his experience at the Gaddafi Stadium, he mentioned having played several matches at the famed venue. The Kiwi also mentioned his friendship with Multan Sultan’s player, Michael Bracewell.
Meanwhile, the Multan Sultans’ all-rounder also addressed the media separately, where he acknowledged that his team was not out of the PSL race yet. “We are not out of the PSL yet”, Bracewell firmly asserted.
The 34-year-old stated the potential for Multan Sultans to secure a spot in the playoffs, stating “We can win the remaining four matches and make it to the top four”.
The New Zealander also praised his captain, Muhammad Rizwan, calling him a “good captain”. However, Bracewell admitted the challenges facing his team.
“Many times, despite having a good team and a good captain, we should have bowled better on this pitch”. Regarding the pitch conditions, Bracewell remarked, “There was definitely grass on the wicket, but it was also suitable for batting”.
Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans
The match itself saw Lahore Qalandars chase down a targer of 186 runs set by the Multan Sultans, who finished their innings at 185 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs.
The Sultan’s innings was anchored by an impressive 76 runs from captain Mohammad Rizwan and a solid 52 from Kamran Ghulam. Yasir Khan, similarly, contributed 24 runs while Usman Khan added 18 to the total.
In response, the Qalandars showcased a balanced batting performance, with Daryl Mitchell leading the charge. Alongside him, Sikandar Raza played an important role by scoring 39 runs.
Abdullah Shafique chipped in 34, Fakhar Zaman scored 28. Meanwhile, Mohammad Nabi only managed a measly six and Sam Billings was dismissed for a duck.

Lahore Qalandars successfully chased down the target in the 19th over, losing five wickets to Multan Sultans.
On the bowling front, Sultan’s Obaid Shah claimed two wickets, while Mohammad Hasnain and Josh Little each picked up a single wicket.
