LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi met with and congratulated Sadia Iqbal on Thursday, for her reclaiming the world number one position in the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 rankings.
In the new ICC women’s rankings released on Tuesday, 29-year-old Sadia, dethroned England’s Sophie Ecclestone to become the top ranked bowler in the shortest format. On Thursday, Naqvi congratulated her, presenting Iqbal with a shirt that read “No.1 T20 bowler”.
“Sadia Iqbal’s achievement is a matter of immense pride for Pakistan,” Naqvi said, adding that the milestone “is the result of her hard work and professional approach.”

Sadia has taken 59 wickets across the 47 matches she has played in the T20I format. Her best outing came in July of last year, in a defeat to Sri Lanka. Despite losing, Sadia took four wickets, while only conceding 16 runs.
She is also ranked 17th among the best ODI bowlers. Earlier this year, Sadia took a total of nine wickets across the five matches she played in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier, helping Pakistan win all of their matches and top the table.
“She has the talent, the discipline, and the hunger to achieve even greater success in the future.”
