KARACHI: The West Indies red ball squad arrived in Pakistan for the first time in 18 years on Monday ahead of the two match test series between the sides.
2006 was the last time the two sides faced each other in tests in Pakistan, in a three-match series in which the men in green came out on top.
When the first match kicks off on January 16 at the National Cricket Stadium, West Indies will be looking to get off to a strong start, in the hopes of winning their first test series against Pakistan since 2000. That was the last time The Windies won a series in any format against Pakistan.
In the 18 matches the two sides have played against each other in the longest format, Pakistan have won six, while The Windies won five. The remaining seven have been draws.
Their most recent series in 2021 ended in a draw, with both sides winning one a piece. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout from Pakistan, taking 18 wickets in the four innings he bowled. The Pakistani fast bowler took 10 wickets in the 2nd test to force a draw.

The upcoming series will be the first time Shan Masood’s squad will face off against the West Indies, presenting the skipper with the opportunity to win his second series of his tumultuous tenure.
But, before Masood gets his chance to face The Windies, the Pakistan Shaheens will play a three-day practice match against the West Indies.
