Pakistan handily defeat Bangladesh to win Blind T20 World Cup

Blind

MULTAN: Pakistan easily scored 141 runs without losing a single wicket on Tuesday, behind a half century from Nisar Ali, beating Bangladesh in the finals to win the Blind T20 Cricket World Cup.

Pakistan won all seven of their matches on their way to being crowned the champions of the 2024 iteration of the Blind T20 World Cup, becoming the first team other than India to win the tournament. India did not participate in the tournament as they were not given permission to travel by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

THE FINALS

Pakistan’s two openers scored 141 runs in just 10.2 overs, as they dominated Bangladesh’s bowlers. It only took seven overs for Nisar Ali to score a half century, as he hit an incredible ten fours in the process, with three in a row in the sixth over. He would hit four more fours before the end of the match. Ali ended with a score of 72 runs off 31 deliveries.

Muhammad Safdar had a great performance as well, just three runs off a half century of his own, as he contributed 47 runs off 33 balls, hitting five fours in the process. Had his teammate not been so eager to end the match, he would have likely made a half century as well.

Pakistan’s bowlers performed well too. Babar Ali took two wickets, beginning with Ashiqur Rahman in the 17th over, who missed the ball and was subsequently stumped by the men in green’s wicket-keeper, Ali. Babar would take his second wicket in the 19th over, as he bowled Abid Hassan.

Muhammad Salman and Mati Ullah both took a wicket each. Salman was the first to strike for Pakistan, as he dismissed Bangladesh’s MD Salman, who scored 31 runs off 35 deliveries. Ullah dismissed Arifullah in the 18th over. The Bangladesh player had come in to replace Ashique, but was sent off quickly, only scoring two runs off the four deliveries he faced.

Three other Bangladesh players were run out, including Arif Hossain, who scored the most runs for his team with 54 off 52 deliveries. He was run out by Kamran Akhtar in the last over of Bangladesh’s innings. Kamran would also run out Tanjilur Rahman in the 12th over. The last wicket to fall for Bangladesh was Shahidul Islam, who was run out by Badar Munir on the last ball of the innings.
