Pakistan U19 Women team trains ahead of match against Ireland


The Pakistan Under-19 Women’s cricket team is set to face Ireland on Wednesday in the group stage match of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

JOHOR: The Pakistan Under-19 Women cricket team is set to face Ireland on Wednesday in the group stage match of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

The match between Pakistan women team and Ireland women team is scheduled to take place at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Johor, Malaysia.

The squad representing Pakistan includes Areesha Ansara, Maham Anees, Zoofishan Ayyaz, Ravail Farhan, Tayyab Imdad, Shahar Bano, Fatima Khan, Aleesa Mukhtiar, Haniah Ahmer, Mahnoor Zeb, Minahil and Quratulain. Wasifa Hussain will serve as wicketkeep and Komal Khan as captain.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s lineup features Genevieve Morrissey, Julie McNally, Millie Spence, Annabel Squires, Rebecca Lowe, Kia McCartney, Alice Walsh, Lara McBride, Lucy Neely, Abbi Harrison, Ally Boucher, Ellie McGee, Freya Sargent, Jennifer Jackson, with Niamh MacNulty as captain.

Match preparations

In preparation for the match, the Pakistan team engaged in intensive training sessions at the Marlborough College Ground. Under the watchful eye of the head coach, Mohsin Kamal, the players concentrated on improving their running, fielding, bowing and batting skills.

Stunt coach, Muhammad Hanif Malik, fielding coach, Nahida Khan, and strength and conditioning coach, Asfandyar, implemented practical exercises to refine the players’ skills as well.

2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup

The 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup is taking place in Malaysia. It commended on January 18 and will go on till February 2.

The tournament is featuring 16 teams competing in the shortest format of the game (20 overs). The T20 tournament is structured into a group stage, followed by Super 6s. and a knockout phase.

The qualification process allowed the top ten full member teams to gain direct entry including Pakistan. India entered the tournament as reigning champions.

Meanwhile, regional qualifiers included Samoa, Nigeria, Nepal, Scotland and the United States. The US automatically qualified as the only team in its region meeting the necessary criteria.

Teams were divided into four groups of four, with the top three from each group advancing to the Super Six (Super 6s) stage. Pointed earned from matches against teams that also quaffed from the group stage will carry forward into the Super 6s, with the top two teams from each Super Six League moving on to the semi-finals.
