Naqvi confident about hosting Champions Trophy in Pakistan


Mohsin Naqvi upbeat about hosting Champions trophy

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressing optimism about hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan said that he still hopes for a positive response from India.

Speaking to the media, Naqvi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to hosting the event.

“We have written to the ICC and are awaiting their response. I firmly believe that politics and sports are separate domains and should not be intertwined,” he emphasized.

Talking about India’s refusal to play in Pakistan, he said, “I still hope for positive outcomes with India”.

He urged the ICC to reflect on its credibility amid ongoing challenges and reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the sport.

He assured that upgradation work at Gaddafi Stadium is progressing rapidly under his supervision. “I personally oversee the work and ensure a mandatory weekly visit to monitor progress,” he said, adding that efforts to upgrade stadiums nationwide are nearing completion.

He expressed confidence that all preparations will be finalized ahead of the scheduled timeline.
