Apple introduces affordable Pencil for iPad art enthusiasts

Affordable Apple Pencil

WEB DESK: Apple has introduced a new, more affordable Apple Pencil priced at $79 (PKR 21,870). This pencil is designed to work with iPads that have a USB-C port.

Unlike its predecessors, this version doesn’t have pressure sensitivity, which might be a drawback for some users. It also lacks the ability to switch drawing tools by double-tapping.

In terms of charging, it uses a USB-C cable. You can attach it magnetically to your iPad for storage, which conserves battery by putting it to sleep.

However, it doesn’t support wireless charging. To charge it, you’ll need to remove a cap to reveal a USB-C port and plug in a charging cable.

Despite these differences, the new Apple Pencil offers pixel-perfect accuracy, low latency, and tilt sensitivity. If you own an M2-powered iPad, you can enjoy the hover feature, allowing you to preview your marks before applying them to your work.

This launch is part of Apple’s move away from the Lightning port, following EU regulations.

Although some of Apple’s devices still use the Lightning port, the shift to USB-C is evident, making it easier for users who have multiple devices to carry fewer charging cables. The new Apple Pencil is set to hit the market in early November.
