The Metavrse was founded in 2015 by Alan and Julie Smithson during the rise of virtual reality (VR).

The company developed a web-based engine to facilitate its virtual mall, which was introduced in 2022 with ambitions to host a diverse range of virtual retailers across 100 floors.

Alan Smithson held the CEO position previously, while Julie Smithson served as the chief operating officer (COO).

According to reports, Julie Smithson in her new role is aiming to simplify the Metavrse creation process. This will make it more easily accessible to users with varying levels if technical expertise.

“Our mission is to make the Metavrse creation experience as intuitive as possible. By integrating AI with spatial web technologies, we are building  a platform that enables users to effortlessly create immersive virtual worlds and experiences”, she explained.

As per reports, Metavrse has worked with the likes of Microsoft, Samsung, and even JP Morgan.

As part of its strategic overhaul, Metavrse plans to relaunch its main platform while streamlining the process for creators to develop and deploy immersive content directly through web browsers.

This will  help remove the need to specialised hardware and software needed to access the platform.
