Disaster Resilient Structure Training Course inaugurated at Jamia NED


“The doors of innovation are open to engineers in Pakistan, and learning the Russian languages is in the wider interest of students,” said the Russian Consul Andrey Viktorovich Fedorov, while expressing his gratitude to Pakistan and NED for inviting the Russian delegation. Representative of the Russian Federation delegation Dr Alexander Babiz was also with him.

According to the details, a two –week training course titled ‘Disaster Resilient Structures’ was initiated at the Earthquake Engineering department of NED University. The Russian consul attended the opening ceremony along with Coordinator of Jazal Comstech, Dr Iqbal Chaudhry and senior executives of OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technology Corporation (COMSTECH).

Addressing the reception at the event held at the VC Secretariat, Shaikh-ul-Jamia NED Professor Sarosh Hashmat Lodhi said that through this modern training awareness about disaster prevention and management can save precious lives. On this occasion, he thanked the Russian government and the delegation from there. Coordinator JAZAL COMSTEC Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry and Chairman Earthquake NED Professor Dr. Masood Rafi said that these training sessions, students will benefit from international experts related to earthquake, flood, fire and tsunami. According to the university spokesperson, 20 professors and staff from engineering universities across Pakistan including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Malaysia are participating in the training course.
