Four killed, dozens injured as bus plunges into ravine in Kohistan

SKARDU: At least four people including driver were killed after a passenger bus operated by Mashabrum Company, traveling from Skardu to Rawalpindi, plunged into a ravine in Shatial Kohistan on the Karakoram Highway.
Rescue and police sources confired that four people were killed and several other injured. The driver, who was identifed as Sadaqat Hussain, a resident of Danyor, Gilgit, was also killed in the accident. Another passenger Nadee, a resident of Vehari Punjab, also died in the accident.
The bus, bearing registration number BLN-9495, reportedly veered off the road and plunged into a deep ravine near Shatial.
Sources said the bus was carrying a total of 23 passengers. The accident occurred at the same spot where another private company’s bus crashed a few months ago.

The crash took place at night, and due to the challenging terrain and darkness, immediate estimates on the exact number of casualties could not be verified.
Local residents, rescuers and police personnel reached the site and began rescue operations. Rescue 1122 has dispatched additional vehicles to the scene upon receiving the report.
Further investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident.
