PESHAWAR: A huge quantity of medicines from the government hospitals in Punjab are being smuggled into Afghanistan through Peshawar, it has been revealed.

According to Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) a raid was conducted on a warehouse of a goods transport company on Peshawar’s Ring Road on a tip off which led to the recovery of government medicines stolen from Punjab’s government hospitals.

The FIA recovered 19 cartons of surgical instruments, thousands of syringes, and cartons of medicines.

According to FIA, a similar cache of medicines from Punjab was also recovered last week, which were set to be smuggled into Afghanistan.
