17 sets of twins gear up for school in Scottish district

INVERCLYED, SCOTLAND: A Scottish local authority known as Twinverclyde has geared up for the arrival of an impressive number of twins who will be starting primary school next week.

According to the media reports, the schools in Inverclyde were set to receive a notable count of 17 sets of twins on the upcoming Friday, marking the second-highest tally of twins joining primary education. The only instance surpassing this was in 2015, when a total of 19 sets of twins embarked on their primary school journey within the region.

The reports said that a significant portion of students from the Class of 2023 gathered at St Patrick’s Primary School in Greenock for a rehearsal before their first day of school. The gathering included an impressive 15 out of the total 17 sets of twins.

Meanwhile, both St Patrick’s Primary School and Ardgowan Primary School have taken the lead by welcoming three sets of twins each into their primary one classes, making themselves as twin-friendly hubs within Inverclyde.

Since 2013, the Class of 2023 has contributed to a cumulative count of 147 sets of twins in Inverclyde, averaging at approximately 13 sets annually, as reported by the international media.

Deputy Provost of Inverclyde Council Graeme Brooks shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming term and said: “Our tradition of welcoming twins into primary one has taken root in Inverclyde, affectionately known as Twinverclyde. As we anticipate the start of the new term next week, the excitement is palpable. Witnessing these students in their uniforms during today’s rehearsal augments our anticipation for the upcoming Friday.”

As per the reports, reflecting on the broader educational landscape, Brooks remarked on the remarkable investment made by the council, stating, “Our schools stand as testament to a collective commitment, with renovations and rebuilding efforts that amount to £250,000,000. Yet, the heart of the schools lies in the children, the dedicated staff, and the families that collectively contribute to their vibrant atmosphere. Today, we witness a glimpse of the next generation embarking on their educational journey, and I extend my warmest wishes as they step into the next chapter of their learning experience.”
