Iran fires hundreds of missiles towards Israel

JERUSALEM/TEHRAN: Iran on Friday night targeted Israel with a barrage of missiles, as TV footage showed plumes of smoke in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as the entire world is on edge after the Israeli strikes on Iranian defence and nuclear facilities.
It means that the Israeli defence systems are unable to detect and shot down Iranian missiles, as their impact is very much visible.
However, it is not clear whether Israel is able to down some of these missiles.
Iran’s response has begun, said IRNA – the official Iranian news agency.
As sounds of explosions rocked the Israeli cities, the government ordered to citizens to take refuge in shelters.
In this connection, Reuters said multiple explosions were being heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem repeatedly.
‘OUR REVENGE HAS JUST STARTED’
On the other hand, Iranian state media has claimed that they have shot down two of the Israeli fighter jets and intercepted an Israeli drone.
It also said that Iran had arrested an Israeli female pilot.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official told Reuters, “Our revenge has just started. They will pay a high price for killing our commanders, scientists and people.”
‘BRING IT TO RUINS’
With the news of Iranian balletic missiles hitting Israel flashing around the world, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised that his country “will inflict heavy blows” to Israel.
Khamenei said Israel’s deadly attacks on his country will “bring it to ruin”, vowing retaliation.
“The armed forces of the Islamic republic will inflict heavy blows upon this malevolent enemy,” Khamenei said in a televised speech, adding that the consequences of the Israeli attack “will bring it to ruin”.
Earlier in the day, Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran would make Israel “regret” its deadly attack.

“The Iranian nation and the country’s officials will not remain silent in the face of this crime, and the legitimate and powerful response of the Islamic Republic of Iran will make the enemy regret its foolish act,” Pezeshkian said in a video statement aired on state TV.
‘TENS OF TARGETS’
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they launched an attack on dozens of targets in Israel after its large-scale attack on the Islamic Republic.
“The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps… has executed its decisive and precise response against tens of targets, military centres and airbases of the usurping Zionist regime in the occupied territories,” the Guards said in a statement carried by state media.
On the other hand, the Israeli military’s media briefing was abruptly ended, as Iranian missiles started hitting the targets.
‘WE KNEW EVERYTHING’
And in Washington, US Donald Trump told Reuters in a phone interview that he and his team knew everything about Israel’s plan to attack Iran and that he had given Tehran fair warning it needed to make a deal on its nuclear programme.
“We knew everything, and I tried to save Iran humiliation and death. I tried to save them very hard because I would have loved to have seen a deal worked out,” Trump said.
