KATHMANDU: Nearly 200 people are dead and another 200 injured following floods and landslides caused by two days of heavy rain, officials said on Monday.
A Nepali newspaper, Republica, stated that 192 people have been killed by the continuous rainfall that resulted in floods and landslides.
Another 194 people were injured since the heavy rains began on Thursday night according to Home Ministry Spokesperson Rishiram Tiwari.
Kathmandu was hit the hardest by the flooding, killing at least 34 people.

The government stated that schools and colleges across the country would be closed for the next three days.
Tiwari said that all security agencies have been deployed. Over 4,500 individuals have been rescued so far. They are also attempted to clear obstructed highways in order to resume transportation. Thousands have been stranded as all routes to Kathmandu were blocked.
A lack of appropriate equipment has become a large issue in carrying out rescue operations and clearing roads.
Efforts by the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force are hindered by primitive equipment. A National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority spokesperson Dijan Bhattari said “the rescue operation teams are using the equipment for which they are trained.”
