Shehbaz, Erdogan meet at summit’s sidelines

NEW YORK: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif held a meeting with Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan at the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) summit.
During the meeting, Shehbaz thanked Erdogan for his recent speech that ‘resonated deeply’ with the Palestinian cause.

The PM also talked about that ‘brotherly relations’ between Pakistan and Turkey, highlighting the historical ties that ‘bond’ the two states.
The discussion between the two Muslim leaders covered a wide range of issues. The PM announce d that prescient Erdogan is expected to visit Pakistan soon, a visited that is expected to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two
The PM also addressed Pakistan’s economic situation, stating that the country has met the stringent conditions st by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Shehbaz expressed gratitude for the support received from Saudi Arabia, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He acknowledged their role in assisting Pakistan during challenges times.

The PM also specifically noted China’s continued support in his meeting with the Turkish president. He stated that the country has once again “held Pakistan’s hand “ in its efforts to navigate economic challenges.
