ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced an intensified crackdown against non-filers starting from October 1, as part of efforts to meet its annual tax target of Rs 13,000 billion for the financial year 2024.
According to FBR sources, final tax notices will be issued to non-filers.

For those still failing to file taxes, several restrictive measures are being considered, including potential bans on travelling abroad. Additional strategies such as disconnecting the mobile SIMs, electricity, and gas connections of persistent non-filers are already under consideration.
Furthermore, those who do not comply by the deadline will be subject to double withholding tax.
The FBR is also proposing a ban on the sale and purchase of property and vehicles by those who fail to submit their tax returns. With the income tax return submission deadline set for September 30, non-filers will face significant consequences.
A large-scale audit of taxpayers is planned after the deadline, with the FBR aiming to recover billions of rupees from 10 key sectors, including retail, wholesale, transport, real estate, construction, health, and education.
