WEB DESK: Pakistan Railways has decided reinstate the Awam Express, which had been halted since the floods in 2022.

The Awam Express, which plies the route from Karachi to Lahore and Lahore to Peshawar, is poised to recommence operations in compliance with directives issued to the carriage shop officials at the Railway Headquarters.

Insiders within Pakistan Railways have revealed that the management has instructed manufacturers to prepare 18 bogies, comprising economy class, lower A, and AC business class coaches, in anticipation of the relaunch scheduled for December.

Notably, the Awam Express holds the distinction of being one of the longest continuously running services, covering a published distance of 1,721 kilometres along the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line.

According to Express News, this decision has been implemented with immediate effect. In a related development, in May 2023, Pakistan Railways revived the high-speed Shalimar Express passenger train after an eight-month hiatus.
