PSX closes with negligible gains after fluctuating all morning

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) wrapped up last week on a downward trend, with the benchmark KSE-100 index shedding nearly 250 points on Friday.

Today, the index opened at 64,816.46 points. After touching the highest of the day at 65,148.36 points and lowest at 64,811.92 points, the index closed with 74 points gain at 64,890.50 points.

Stock Market opens with expectations of new monetary policy today

The benchmark KSE-100 index showed mixed results with energy and telecom companies leading the index up and down.

The market operated on the uncertainty related to the upcoming decision on the policy rate.

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will meet today, amidst mixed expectations of decline in interest rates or unchanged monetary policy. The interest rate currently stands at a record high of 22 per cent.
