ISLAMABAD: In the wake of a minor reduction in petroleum product prices, positive effects are already being observed. Instructions have been issued to reduce public transport fares accordingly.

Following the reduction in petroleum prices, members of the transport union met with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad to discuss fare adjustments. During the meeting, the DC approved a reduction in public transport fares.

According to the decision, fares for journeys exceeding 30 kilometres will be reduced by up to Rs10. It is mandatory for the revised fare chart to be displayed on the front screens of all public transport vehicles.

The transport union has assured the DC of their cooperation in implementing the fare reduction.

As per the DC’s directive, strict action will be taken against vehicles that fail to comply with the fare reduction. All Assistant Commissioners (ACs) have been instructed to check the fare charts of vehicles from tomorrow.
