The alleged perpetrator is a highly influential figure, with reports indicating that at least four federal secretaries have been attempting to shield him from legal consequences. The Director General of a civilian agency is also reportedly supporting the senior officer involved, whose daughter is the alleged victim.
In her complaint, Mrs Ismaat* (name changed for anonymity) detailed an incident on August 3 at around 9:30 pm. Her daughter, identified as Munni* (name changed), was allegedly harassed and assaulted by a man named Wasif Kareem in the ‘family hall’ of the Islamabad Club.
Mrs Ismaat stated that while she was dining with her family, Kareem made inappropriate physical and verbal advances toward her daughter, who reported the incident to club staff immediately.
The club staff identified Kareem as a guest of Mr Masood, a club member. According to the staff, Kareem left the club shortly after the incident. The FIR (First Information Report) describes the incident as having caused severe mental trauma to the 18-year-old victim and significant distress to her family.
