Apple May 7 event: New products and updates unveiled

CUPERTINO: Tech giant Apple on Tuesday unveiled a diverse array of new releases and updates during its eagerly awaited May 7 event.

Apple’s recent event, titled “Let Loose,” streamed globally from its headquarters in California.

Here is a list of every new update and product unveiled during the Apple event:

iPad Air

The announcement of the new iPad Air has sparked excitement among fans of the tech giant. The latest iPad is available in two display sizes: an 11-inch and a 13-inch display. It is also equipped with Apple’s latest M2 chip.

The starting price for the latest model of the iPad is $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch. As usual, the colour options are limited from the tech company founded by Steve Jobs, with choices including blue, purple, starlight, and space gray.

Meanwhile, the iPad Air’s storage capacity starts at 128 gigabytes (GB).

iPad Pro

Updates to the iPad Pro lineup were also announced during the event. The latest iPad Pro models feature colourful OLED displays for enhanced visuals and a thinner design. The Pro lineup is powered by the advanced M4 processor.

The prices for the iPad Pro models start at $999 for the 11-inch version and $1,299 for the 13-inch version. Both models offer a storage capacity of 256 GB.

M4 processor

At the event, Apple also unveiled the M4 processor, featuring a 10-core CPU and GPU, built using a 3nm process.

The processor is designed for artificial intelligence (AI) tasks, with Apple representatives promising a 50 per cent improved performance compared to its predecessor, the M2.

Apple Pencil Pro

The Apple Pencil Pro was announced separately as an accessory for the iPad Pro, with a price tag of $129.

Magic Keyboard

The tech giant also introduced the Magic Keyboard, featuring an aluminum palm rest, larger trackpad, and a wider function row. The keyboard is available in two models: an 11-inch and a 13-inch version.

The Magic Keyboard is priced at $299 for the 11-inch variant and $349 for the 13-inch one. It is available in silver and black colour options.

Other announcements

The tech giant lowered the starting price of its tenth-generation iPad by $100 to $349.

Apple also introduced new apps targeted at users engaged in content creation and audio production. The tech giant launched the “Final Cut Camera” app for live multi-camera production and introduced AI-powered features for “Logic Pro”.
