Army called in for Muharram security

ISLAMABAD: Interior Ministry has decided to deploy Pakistan Army across the the country to ensure security during Muharram.

A notification issued by the ministry says army deployment has been authorized under Article 245 of constitution.

In this regard, Interior Ministry has sent a letter to the governments of all four provinces along with Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The provinces had requested Interior Ministry for army deployment to maintain peace and order during Muharram.
