QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly convened its first session, witnessing the swearing-in of nine elected members, setting the stage for a new era in provincial governance.
Amidst a backdrop of political anticipation, the assembly hall welcomed 58 members, including prominent figures like Zmarak Khan Achakzai.
The session commenced with a solemn tribute to the brave security personnel and civilians who sacrificed their lives during the pursuit of peace in the region, underscoring the gravity of the responsibilities that lay ahead for the newly elected representatives.
In a significant display of democratic transition, 58 out of the 65 newly elected members took their oaths, signifying their commitment to serving the people of Balochistan. However, the session also highlighted the procedural hurdles that hindered the completion of the electoral process.
Notably, three constituencies remained vacant due to various reasons. One seat awaited representation as Sardar Akhtar Mengal, having been sworn in as a member of the National Assembly, left his provincial seat unoccupied.
Furthermore, the absence of Mir Sadiq Sanjrani and Jam Kamal from Quetta postponed their oath-taking ceremonies, contributing to the incomplete assembly.
Despite these challenges, the assembly session symbolized the resilience of Balochistan’s democratic spirit. As the newly elected members assume their roles, the focus shifts towards addressing the pressing issues facing the province and working towards its development and prosperity.
The inaugural session concluded with a sense of optimism, as the elected representatives embarked on their legislative journey, guided by the mandate entrusted to them by the people of Balochistan.
