LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif has said that the debate challenge of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto was washed away by the rain in Karachi yesterday.
During a press conference in Lahore, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government has accused them of the worst corruption, but no one could prove corruption against Nawaz Sharif. Corruption has not been completely eradicated in any society in the world, he said.
He added that the people will decide the outcome of the election through their votes, and it appears that the PML-N will receive a clear mandate on February 8.
Shehbaz Sharif also mentioned that the future of the youth is linked to the upcoming elections, and this is directly related to the reports of Transparency International.
He said that Bilawal Bhutto can contest elections from any constituency, but asking for votes by distributing money which is a grave insult to the voting process.
He also pointed out that before 2018, the roads of Lahore were cleaned using water from tankers, and even today in Karachi, water is delivered to homes through tankers. He said that if Lahore’s roads presented a look of Karachi, he would have invited Bilawal Bhutto to contest the election from his constituency.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Nawaz Sharif constructed the first motorway in 1997, and this led to allegations of corruption against him.
He added that during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, corruption was dealt with severely.
“In 2013, Nawaz Sharif came into power through votes, and at that time, Pakistan ranked 139 in the corruption index. From 2013 to 2018, Pakistan experienced significant investments,” he claimed.
The PML-N preident mentioned that during Nawaz Sharif’s era, numerous electricity projects were initiated in Pakistan.
“The CPEC corridor was constructed. The first Orange Line train was introduced. Plans were made to generate electricity from coal, and efforts were made to generate electricity from gas,” he said.
He concluded by stating that the previous PTI government was formed through rigging and deceit.
