Cold dry weather to persist in country, Lahore AQI still concerning

ISLAMABAD: Cold and dry conditions are expected to persist across the country, although isolated showers may occur in certain areas of Balochistan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirms that most of the districts of Sindh will experience cold and dry weather.

Karachi is bracing for a 48 to 72-hour cold wave, with cold winds driving temperatures down significantly.

In Lahore, the weather is forecasted to be partly cloudy for the next 24 hours, with a minimum temperature of 7 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 22 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are expected to remain at 85%, as per the Meteorological Department.

Heavy snowfall hits Chitral

Lahore’s air quality continues to be a concern, ranking second among the world’s most polluted cities. The average air quality index (AQI) stands at 193, with the highest AQI of 304 recorded in Defense Area Phase 5. Areas like Shimla Pahari Chowk, Gulberg 3, and Upper Mall are also marked as polluted zones.

South Balochistan may experience rain, accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers. Rainfall is anticipated in Quetta, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat, Turbat, Nokundi, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Chagi, Panjgur, and Dalbandin.

There’s a possibility of rain, along with strong winds and thundershowers, in Kharan and Gwadar. Meanwhile, Murree, Galiat, and nearby areas are expected to remain very cold and dry.

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also see cold and dry weather, according to the PMD. Partly cloudy skies are predicted in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
