WEB DESK: Following the completion of pool rounds, Nido Hum Spelling Whizz Karachi final, inching towards regionals is happening right now with young minds recalling the words to spell them out.
Earlier the, fourth day of the Karachi pool rounds of Nido Hum Spelling Whizz, organised by Nestlé Nido and Hum News, was held at the Arts Council with great enthusiasm.
Students showcased impressive spelling and pronunciation skills, captivating judges and the audience alike. Oxford University Press’s Rukhsana Ahsan and Irfana Qadri served as judges, with Fareed Azhar as pronouncer. Students aged 15 to 18 competed fiercely to qualify for the regional round. The competition will culminate in the grand final on November 3 at Lahore’s Alhamra Hall, where the country’s top spellers will vie for the national title.
NIDO HUM Spelling Whizz
In a major effort to promote literacy and language learning among Pakistani youth, HUM News and Nestlé NIDO launched the Nestlé NIDO HUM Spelling Whizz competition under the “HUM in Education” initiative. The project, developed by HUM Network’s Special Projects and Events team, aims to nurture students’ passion for language through engaging nationwide spelling contests. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organisations was signed at HUM Network’s Karachi headquarters.
The competition will be held across major cities — Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore . Participants from schools in these regions will compete to showcase their spelling skills, boost confidence, and enhance focus.
The launch ceremony of the event was attended by diplomats, journalists, and senior representatives from both HUM Network and Nestlé NIDO, including Affan Cheema, Hassan Akbar, and Arif Hussain. Project Manager Qudsia Anwar presented the event’s details, highlighting its vision to strengthen children’s linguistic foundations. Both partners emphasised that fostering a love for language is essential to developing an informed, confident, and enlightened generation.
