ISLAMABAD: Board of Investment (BOI) Secretary Asad Rehman Gilani has underscored the significant investment prospects for Pakistani entrepreneurs in the halal meat industry with China.

Gilani’s remarks were made during a meeting with a delegation from the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), headed by its President, Sajid Hussain Tarar.

According to a Business Recorder report, Gilani encouraged the chamber to explore unconventional investment opportunities not only in China but also in the USA and Europe. He emphasized the importance of leveraging the latest technologies to tap into these markets. Rather than exporting raw oranges, he suggested that the SCCI consider value-added citrus products, such as orange pulp, for export to the USA.

Drawing attention to the burgeoning demand for halal meat in China, Gilani urged the SCCI to delve into this sector, highlighting the potential for Pakistani businesses to cater to China’s significant appetite for halal meat products.

Furthermore, Gilani shared that the BOI, in collaboration with the Pakistan Embassy in Korea, recently organized a successful business conference in Seoul. Over 200 Korean companies participated in the event, demonstrating the growing interest in trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.

Appreciating Gilani’s forward-looking approach, the President of SCCI revealed the chamber’s plans to host the inaugural Citrus Festival across three different countries. This initiative aligns with Gilani’s emphasis on value addition and technological innovation in enhancing Pakistan’s exports.

As the discussions between BOI and SCCI continue to foster collaboration and strategic investment ventures, the potential for Pakistani businesses to tap into international markets, particularly in the halal meat and citrus sectors, appears promising.
