Islamabad Police seize thousands of grammes of heroin, hashish

ISLAMABAD: In a targeted operation, Islamabad Capital Police (ICP) teams have apprehended 14 members associated with drug peddler gangs.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of 2,095 grammes of heroin, 3,962 grammes of hashish, 60 litres of liquor, and 18 grammes of ice from the suspects.

This initiative was launched in response to specific directives from Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the officer in charge of Islamabad Police.

The move aims to strengthen the crackdown against criminal elements, ultimately working towards the elimination of crime within the city. A spokesperson for the police highlighted these efforts on Friday.

Acting upon the given directives, teams from Shalimar, Tarnol, Sangjani, Koral, Kirpa, Humak, and Bhara Kahu police stations successfully apprehended 11 drug peddlers.

Subsequent searches led to the recovery of 4,720 grammes of heroin, 2,220 grammes of hashish, 46 litres of liquor, and 112 grammes of ice.

The arrested individuals are now facing legal action, with cases officially registered against them. The ongoing investigation aims to unveil further details surrounding their activities.

According to The News, Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, the Islamabad City Police officer, has instructed all senior officials to maintain a vigilant and effective crackdown against those involved in drug peddling activities.
